Smart Cities and Green IT Forum
Under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry & Information Technology, Chengdu Municipality, UN Habitat, and Metropolis, the Smart Cities and Green IT Forum is going to be held at Chengdu city, April 27-28th, 2011. The Forum is conducted by Chengdu Economic & Information Technology Commission in collaboration with the Smart + Connected Communities Institute, coordinated by Chengdu IoT Industry Development Alliance and Cisco.
The birth of Smart + Connected Communities (S+CC) was catalyzed by the rapid development of information and communication technologies (ICTs) and the fast pace of urbanization. The S+CC is underpinned by modern ICTs characterized as ubiquitous, service-oriented, intelligent, and green. The advanced network that covers human, nature, and society can perceive the various demands of urban planning, construction, management, and development dynamically. Via the established connection, communication and control across physical world and cyber space, S+CC expects to provide its citizens with a life of health, safety, convenience, and harmony.
The Smart City has been recognized as a new stage of urban informatization. Its construction has become an international trend. In China, many cities have committed themselves to the construction and development of Smart City. A market of enormous industrial opportunities is taking form. At the same time, theories and practice about Smart City in China and even the world are still in its infancy, there is no mature experience and unified standards, therefore the risk of uncertainty in decision-making is faced by many cities. In order to reflect the latest development of Smart City; acquaint participants with the relevant technologies and standards; enhance their capabilities in risk management and information process; promote dialogue, exchange and cooperation among smart cities; and achieve the economic, social and environmental sustainability, the Smart Cities & Green IT Forum is organized.
This Forum as an important part of 2011 China International Software Cooperation Fair & Exhibition has got the endorsement and participation of the Ministry of Industry & Information Technology, Chengdu Municipality, UN Habitat, Metropolis, and several cities around the world. It will be a great gathering of government agencies, professional organizations, and eco-partners to share the knowledge of ICTs and experience of Smart City development.
We sincerely invite you to participate in the Smart Cities and Green IT Forum and share the vision and the best practice of your city with us. We believe that with your participation this event will be even more wonderful.
